Amy M.
Private tutor in Waukesha, WI
Education
Grad Student in Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; I also have a strong interest in mathematics education for gifted students, as well as mathematics education at the secondary school and undergraduate level. I have a passion and in-born talent for symbolic logic, proofs, and logical reasoning in general.
Experience
I have a passion for learning, and even moreso, a passion for teaching. As an undergraduate, I majored in mathematics, psychology, and philosophy, and earned my B.A. with Honors. Yes, that's right, three majors! Completing three majors has taught me to think flexibly. My philosophy classes has helped me to think more deeply, to reason logically, and to fully grasp the kinds of reasoning required in mathematics. My psychology courses -- e.g. cognitive psychology, the psychology of learning, the psychology of motivation, and memory -- have helped me learn about learning: how students learn, and what can enhance learning and memory. It's helped me become a highly successful and sought after tutor. But it is math and math education that are my passion.
